The 21st Annual Peoples Festival 4Peace & Tribute to Bob Marley
Since 1994, The Peoples’ Festival 4Peace & Tribute to Bob Marley has welcomed close to 100,000 families from around the country in Peace, Unity and “One Love” to the first place, outside of Jamaica, Bob Marley called home: Wilmington, Delaware; where his family resided and where his children had their only public school experience.
During his time in Wilmington, Bob worked for two iconic corporations in the state of Delaware, the Chrysler Corporation and DuPont. Also, Bob & Rita Marley’s second son, and four-time Grammy Award winning artist, Stephen Marley was born in Wilmington. Bob rose to world star status by taking his message of Peace, Unity, and “One Love” to ALL to the world and our goal is to promote the same. At the request of his late Mother, Cedella Marley Booker, Ibis and Genny Pitts brought the first “Tribute to Bob Marley” just blocks from Bob’s Wilmington home.
Over the last two decades international artists such as; Richie Havens, KRS 1, Damian Marley, Ziggy Marley, Stephen, Julian and Ky-mani Marley,KINTO SOL, Morgan Heritage, Toots and the Maytals, Culture, Midnight,THIRD WORLD, Luciano, Mutabaruka, The Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble and a host of other international icons have come to our city to deliver Bob’s message.
This year we welcome to our outdoor stage Romain Virgo, The Itals, Jah9, Afrika Bambaataa, Alika, Dubtonic Kru, DJ Stepwise, and MORE!
The beautiful Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park is located right outside the doors of the Amtrak Train Station and across the street from Wilmington’s Bus Depot, EASY access from ANYWHERE plus plenty of parking! This is a perfectly accessible venue for this family-friendly event. People of all ages can enjoy arts, literature, drum and dance, spoken word, face painting and other activities at our famed Children’s Village. Festival goers will be able to cool off and relax in our Holistic Wellness Pavilion and Bamboo Rain Hut. Shop till you drop for arts and crafts from around the world in the International Market Place! Enjoy the best Caribbean and International cuisine in our food court and quench your thirst in our Beer Garden, while listening and dancing to live music all day!
