Narubi Selah

Spoken word artist, vocalist, actress, and educator; born and raised in Trenton, NJ, this one-woman show has toured the globe recording and performing alongside such notables as the Poor Righteous Teachers, Lauryn Hill, Big Pun, Sista Soulja, Mos Def, and Mums just to name a few. Nearly a decade ago, she was ranked the 11th poet in the nation, following her incredible performance at the 2001 Essence’s Music Festival in New Orleans. There, she shared the stage with Iylanya Vanzant and Tavis Smiley. Her poem entitled “Goodie Goodie” has gained national recognition and according to Susan Taylor of Essence Magazine, “…her words could save our nation”. In 2005, following the entitlement of ‘New Jersey Slam Queen”, she featured on the 5th season of the Peabody Award winning Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam.
