Women have a long history of participating in warfare – from ordinary warriors, soldiers and defenders to military commanders, rebels and revolutionary leaders.
The Amazons, Women Warriors of Ancient Greece and Rome, Women Warriors in the Middle East, African Women Warriors to modern day revolutionaries. Women were always important in their selfless support of troops that fought in battles. They not only supported troops in a way that allowed them to succeed by doing the many thankless tasks that go along with fighting wars and revolutions, they also joined the men on the front lines. Unfortunately, because of women’s lower class standing, male historians have often omitted information about many of these spectacular women. The legends of these women have been popularized and romanticized by male storytellers, making them seem more like sexual beings rather than the heroes they are. This here, is a step towards paying homage to all the strong women who equally fought and died and continue to fight in the struggle for equality, liberty and true justice for all. Viva las mujeres de la revolución!!!
