POW WOW OF ARTS & CULTURE : JULY 23RD

Planned in partnership with community advisors and the Nanticoke Indian Association, this event celebrates indigenous culture. Principle Chief Coker of the Lenape Indian Tribe will open the event.

Dancers and musicians include
Head Lady Adrienne Harmon (Nanticoke)
Head Male Louis Campbell (Lumbee)
Host Drum: Red Blanket Singers (Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape)
Native Aztec dance by Tonantzin Yaotecas.
Visitors of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

This Powwow is open to the public. All are welcome! Below, we’re sharing etiquette for non-native visitors:

  • The dance arena and the seats nearest the circle are reserved for singers, dancers, drummers, and their families.
  • Visitors are welcome to watch, but please do not participate in dancing unless explicitly invited by the Master of Ceremonies (MC).
  • Please ask permission before taking photos or videos. Unless you are given permission by the MC.
  • Please do not touch any part of the regalia of dancers.

Please join us in welcoming and showing respect to our Nanticoke and Lenni-Lenape guests, and all community members at the Powwow.
