In honor of Mumia Abu Jamal’s 60th birthday, The Celebration of Life begins with a dedication to the Baraka family and the Black Arts Movement dinner on Thursday, April 24. The fundraiser will feature a live jazz band and performances by The Last Poets, Marvin X, Ewuare Osayande; as well as a live dialogue with Angela Davis via Skype. Special guests will include author, activist and professor,Cornel West. We are not only celebrating Mumia 60th birthday, we are celebrating the fact that Mumia is alive and all those who have been a part of the 30 year struggle to free Mumia. Join us on this historical occasion to honor one of our community’s greatest journalists.
