April 24 ~In honor of Mumia Abu Jamal’s 60th birthday, The Celebration of Life begins with a dedication to the Baraka family and the Black Arts Movement dinner on Thursday, April 24. The fundraiser will feature a live jazz band and performances by The Last Poets, Marvin X, Ewuare Osayande; as well as a special message from Angela Davis. Special guests will include author, activist and professor,Cornel West. We are not only celebrating Mumia 60th birthday, we are celebrating the fact that Mumia is alive and all those who have been a part of the 30 year struggle to free Mumia. Join us on this historical occasion to honor one of our community’s greatest journalists.

April 26 ~ Sons and Daughters of the Revolution March March begins at the former headquarters of the Philadelphia Black Panther Party at 18th and Cecil B Moore. Marchers should gather at 10am, and the march will commence at 11am to the Church of the Advocate at 18th and Diamond Street. Celebration of Life Festival opening ceremony will begin at 11am, followed by workshops and performances at 12pm. Workshops will end at 4pm and the concert will end at 6:30pm.
